Tomoyuki Abe, M.Div., 2009, and Jessica Abe, M.A.R., 2009

Tomoyuki and Jessica Abe spent the first year after graduation adjusting and readjusting to Japanese culture. The couple moved to Tomoyuki's hometown and home church, Sagamihara Grace Chapel, with plans to start a church plant. In May 2010, the church plant, Fuchinobe Community Church, began meeting on Sunday afternoons. Tomoyuki serves as pastor. Jessica is learning Japanese, helping in the church and teaching language classes.

The couple is seeing people turn to Jesus and aligning their lives with His teaching. They're also reaching out to married couples with a course on communication and problem solving.

"We believe there is a great need for this kind of outreach in Japan and that God can use it to touch people who wouldn't be interested in church otherwise," they say.
