Jonathan Bream, M.Div., 2005

Jonathan Bream pastors Brooklyn First Church of the Brethren in Brooklyn, N.Y. "While the congregation is small, it is multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and diverse," Jonathan says. "Urban ministry is challenging; the needs are great and so are the rewards."

Urban ministry gives Jonathan unique – and sometimes uncomfortable -- opportunities. Because one of Jonathan's congregants is the denomination's representative to the United Nations, he has been involved in U.N. dialogues on social issues like human trafficking, racism, and promoting peace and justice.

"Evangelical has enhanced my Christian World View while showing me how to live and love in fallen world," Jonathan says. "I come in contact with Muslims, Catholics, and marginal Christians on a daily basis and show Jesus through the way I act and the way I respect the other individual, all of which I received from the sound Biblical teaching at Evangelical."
