
As pastor of Stehman Memorial United Methodist Church in Lancaster County, Pa., she's had a front-row seat in seeing God's transforming work in the lives of her congregants.
"Before God called me into ministry (I always tell people, this wasn't MY idea), I had worked as a journalist all my adult life," she says. "I started into ministry as a bi-vocational pastor, but the Lord has been leading me to complete the career change and commit to full-time ministry."
"Evangelical has been a critical part of my spiritual formation and my formation for ministry," Helen says. "I learned how to preach there (thank you, Dr. Tornfelt!) and how to care for people. I learned to be a missionary to the community in which I'm serving."
