Bob Hower might be best known in the Evangelical community for his 20-year tenure as church history professor, but he also spent 28 years in pastoral ministry in the Evangelical Congregational Church.
"These fruitful study and weekly preaching-filled years developed in me a love of congregation, students and the sheer joy of the teaching task," he says. "It was my privilege to train and equip women and men from other backgrounds for world-wide service."
His own theological studies at Evangelical, through Temple School of Theology, prepared him for teaching others the relevance of history to their faith.
Of his time at Evangelical, Hower credits, "J.D. Yoder's insistence on personal Bible study, K.R. Maurer modeling diligence and hard work in study and evangelism, and, finally, the goals of Evangelical to equip Christian leaders in an ever-changing world while above all honoring Christ" for helping him in teaching and ministry.
