"When I come to the law of God, I encounter the God of the law. My desire in this sacred meeting is to discover his character and then allow that character to shape my own by the power of the Holy Spirit. His law is not graceless, and his grace is not lawless."
Dr. Valentino has been a professor at Evangelical Seminary since 2007, teaching a variety of pastoral ministry, Old Testament, and student writing courses. His doctoral work focused on the place and preaching of Old Testament law for Christians, and his research interests today include biblical studies, homiletics, theology, apologetics, and world history. An ordained minister in the Missionary Church, Tim has taught a wide range of seminars, retreats, conferences, and workshops, and he has published a variety of papers in scholarly journals and denominational publications. He also has composed a number of lyric poems and Christian praise songs. In his spare time, he enthusiastically cheers for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Tim also has been serving as the Senior Pastor at Fleetwood Bible Church since June of 1992. His passion is to faithfully teach and preach the Bible in such a way that hearers might be captivated the gracious character of God, and believers and skeptics alike might be transformed by the power of the gospel. His calling is best summarized in the apostolic mandate: "Tell the people the full message of this new life" (Acts 5:20). The historical resurrection of Christ from the dead and the present indwelling of the Holy Spirit are central to his message. These vital truths have led Pastor Tim to devote his life to "increasing love for God and neighbor by making disciples of Christ." His great delight is inspiring believers to pursue a warm heart and a sharp mind, fully grounding their worldview in the truths of sacred Scripture.
As a high school All America and NCAA Division 1 swimmer, Tim came to Christ through the ministries of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. At Reading High School, he was salutatorian of the Class of 1983 and took top honors in English, science, and foreign language. At West Virginia University he met his wife, Sonya Moore, of Wheeling, West Virginia, who graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree. At WVU she received numerous collegiate awards and faculty commendations as a lyric soprano. Sonya has taught both public and private students in the vocal and instrumental arts, and has performed in a wide variety of musical theater productions, operas, concerts, and special occasions for dignitaries across the country. At Fleetwood Bible Church, she serves as the Children's Ministry Director.
Tim and Sonya have two children. Andrew is a film and media arts major at Temple University in Philadelphia. His interests include video editing, computers, apologetics, science fiction, the dramatic arts, and voice. Bethany is a speech language pathology major at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Her interests include choral music, flute, guitar, dance, reading, the dramatic arts, and sharing Christ.
